Nature and Historical Characteristics of the Jizera Mountains

This bachelor thesis describes natural relations and history of the Jizera Mountains. First part is focused on geological and geomorphological processes creating the landscape and also on climatic and hydrological aspects. A second part gives an account of flora, which is a little reduced due to poor mineral subsoil. The exceptions are peat-bogs. These ecological subtypes represent the most valuable and the most important biotope of the Jizera Mountains. There we could discover a lot of unique and protected species of plants and animals. A history of the Jizera Mountains mapping here the settlements from prehistory age to modern times is also described in detail. Neither I do not forget to mention a development of textile and glass industry, which are also very important for this region at the field of economics. The deportation of the Germans after 2nd World War was an essential event resulting in almost complete displacement of the Bohemian border region. People have returned to the mountains due to tourism and a phenomenon of "the summer cottage" at 60th and 70th years of 20th century. The thesis is focused on the issue of the nutritional value of pasture growth with an emphasis on the content of energy and organic nutrients that grows in the Mohelenská Serpentine Steppe National Nature Reserve. It deals with factors that influece the nutritional value of pasture growth, especially in relation to the habitat conditions, botanical composition and optimal phase of their use. Increased space is devoted to how nutrition factors, with emphasis on the content of energy and organic nutrients in growth can influence the behaviour of sheep in the pasture. In Mohelenská Serpentine Steppe National Nature Reserve an ethological observation of the herd of sheep was carried out. Plant samples had been taken from the pasture areas to determine the yield and their nutritional value. The height of the growth was measured also. Results were precessed into etograms, tables, charts and maps.

The bachelor thesis deals with the proposal of excursion for pupils of the Secondary Forestry School in Hranice and its use in the teaching of the subject forest protection within the framework of which the proposed excursion could be realized. The theoretical part defines and classifies excursion as one of the organizational forms of teaching, describes methods and principles used during excursion. It analyzes relevant information from literature, curriculum documents. The practical part contains a methodical design of the excursion into the protected landscape area. Incorporating the excursion into the teaching process provides of equal benefit to both pupils and teachers. It is an authentic and experienced learning in which development and shaping of the landscape can be observed directly in the exterior, which has a positive influence for the formation of their personality, makes up space for their creativity, allows the connection of theory with practice and supports to the improvement and permanent acquisition of new knowledge by creative teahing.

The bachelor thesis focuses on specially protected areas in the Czech Republic, the situation in the world is also mentioned. These areas are enshrined in our legislation and they are one of the most important tools for nature and landscape protection. Specially protected areas are set up on natural or aesthetically important localities with remarkable or important biological diversity, with a unique geological structure, characterizing landscape features of cultural landscape and on territories important for scientific research. They are divided into different categories that determine the degree of protection in the announced territory. The aim of the specially protected areas is to safeguard, maintain and improve the extant state of the locality, or left the area its spontaneous evolution.

The main topic of my bachelor thesis was to evaluate changes in the landscape of Větrníky national nature reserve (NPR) and its buffer zone, which is located in the district of Vyškov in Letonice locality. Literature review was focused on the landscape of Větrníky NPR and later on the ecological, physically-geographical, historical and cultural changes during the last 60 years were evaluated. Comparative method was used to analyse obtained data. From results it is possible to say that the landscape has been significantly changed by agricultural operations, which currently dropped back and it was replaced by the use of tourism, where a number of tourist attractions were built as: a horse route, eco-resting place called Jarmilka, information boards, signposts and others.
